Fairwinds Technologies and Fairlead Form Strategic Alliance to Deliver Multi-Domain Adaptive Autonomy for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Space Force

October 14, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANNAPOLIS, Md., October 14, 2025 – Fairwinds Technologies and Fairlead have announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy advanced Multi-Domain Adaptive Autonomy (MDA²) solutions in support of the U.S. Department of War.

This alliance combines Fairlead’s expertise in maritime systems engineering, naval integration, and defense manufacturing across the submarine, unmanned surface vessel, and aircraft carrier industrial base with Fairwinds Technologies’ leadership in defense communication networks, autonomous systems, spectrum warfare, cybersecurity, and AI-enabled platforms. Together, the companies are delivering mission-ready capabilities that support joint, distributed operations and enable decision dominance across air, sea, land, and space.

Jim Sprungle, Fairwinds Technologies CEO, states “Our combined efforts are focused on creating adaptive, multi-domain technologies that deliver a decisive advantage in contested environments—at sea, in the air, on the ground, and beyond the atmosphere.”

“This partnership represents a powerful fusion of maritime innovation and advanced autonomy,” said Fred Pasquine, President and CEO of Fairlead. “By integrating our strengths, we are positioned to accelerate delivery of critical capabilities to the warfighter.”

Key Areas of Focus

  • Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) tactical satellite communications for high-throughput, low-latency data, secure voice, and real-time video at the tactical edge, enabling resilient, interoperable connectivity in dynamic and denied environments
  • Autonomous maritime, drone, and space systems for distributed MDA² operations to augment maritime domain awareness and space domain awareness
  • AI data center and quantum-edge mission modules focused on cyber defense, large-scale force optimization, and unmanned systems integration frameworks for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) operations
  • Containerized AI Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and spectrum dominance solutions with Zero Trust security, precision navigation, and timing for secure, scalable, and resilient edge computing in contested and distributed environments
  • Forward-deployed containerized MIL-SPEC mission modules for rapidly reconfigurable capabilities across shipboard, shore-based, and expeditionary platforms

The partnership also supports the development of AI solutions aligned with national defense priorities, including initiatives framed under the U.S. Department of War legacy doctrine. These capabilities are designed to enhance strategic foresight, automate command functions, and optimize multi-domain force deployments under high-threat conditions.

Space-based mobile broadband for defense delivers secure, high-speed communications to mobile and disaggregated units across the globe, supporting bandwidth-intensive applications, including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) streaming and autonomous swarm operations.

Containerized AI data center mission modules equipped with Zero Trust security architectures provide secure, scalable, and resilient edge computing capabilities that enable warfighters to process, analyze, and act on data rapidly, while protecting against cyber threats in contested environments. MIL-SPEC mission modules expand mission flexibility by enabling plug-and-play configurations in shipboard, expeditionary, or forward-deployed operations.

Aligned with key Department of War initiatives, such as Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), this partnership reflects a shared commitment to delivering resilient, distributed, and AI-enabled capabilities across all warfighting domains. Fairlead and Fairwinds Technologies are accelerating the delivery of advanced technologies that enhance readiness, agility, and lethality for the modern warfighter.
